Recommended Tools and materials

I often get asked about what tools and materials I use, and where to purchase them.

Below is a list of these, though please note that if the links are to Amazon, these are affiliate links and I will earn a small commission for recommending them. Thanks for your understanding and your support in using these if you are getting the recommendations from me :-)

Lazy Susan

A lazy Susan is a round plate that rotates. This really helps with painting evenly, protecting your wrists and hands from twisting, and protects your piece of art as you don't need to keep picking it up or moving it around!

Dotting tools - rods, stylus, stencils, pencils, blank dishes/stones

This link is to my shop list where I sell these things!

Paint pots - string of 6 3ml pots

To paint a stone or ring size piece, these 3ml pots work really well.

Felt bases

Putting a self adhesive felt base on the base of your stone or dish really makes it looked finished.

This link goes to a variety of sizes, from 2.5" to 9" diameter,

Gloss Varnish

I really recommend using Deco art varnish to finish and protect your piece. I use this for stones, dishes and wood based art. This is a small pot of 59ml, you can purchase in a larger bottle too if you use it a lot.

Paint - acrylic

I really recommend using Deco art Americana paints as they are a good consistency for dotting. Deco Art do not ship to the UK, so I suggest using Buddly Crafts in the UK to purchase your paints.
